Exit172 Photography > August 27, 2006 - River Vale, NJ

On the NYC news last night they mentioned at least 3 people involved in 'hit and runs'. A few of the pedestrians didn't make it... I guess these deer were no exception. Looks like one fawn was dead and the other couldn't walk (it tried a couple times). I'm guessing a car drilled both of them and took off. 11:56 AM, Nikon S1.

This is a small waterfall I always pass on my way to Piermont and Upper Nyack. Not much to look at, but sounds nice... very relaxing. 11:01 AM, Nikon S1.

After not riding for a couple of days, I had to get out over the weekend -- even if it was raining. It was a little chilly and rainy on this particular Saturday afternoon. Not too many folks out and about. Nice sailboat in the distance. 5:16 PM, Nikon S1.

After work I decided to squeeze in a quick 20 mile ride. I bolted out and managed to make it to Piermont to catch the sunset. 7:15 PM, Nikon S1.

The red line indicates the track I rode along the Hudson River (and Route 9W) on August 20, 2006. The track was captured using a Garmin Edge 305 GPS. The lake in the center is Rockland Lake State Park.

I decided to stop in again and check out the Piermont peninsula on my return trip (52 miles total for the day!). This is looking South down the Hudson River. 10:58 AM, Nikon S1.

Even though I have road tires on my Trek 7.5 FX, I decided to risk a flat and ride to the end of this trail (mostly small gravel). Glad I did... Almost the entire trail runs alongside the Hudson River. The best part is it leads up to Rockland Lake State Park. The cliffs are incredible. Once again, much better in person. 9:27 AM, Nikon S1.

Sunrise over Old Tappan Reservoir. I started my ride in the dark and was lucky to be by the reservoir for the sunrise. It's not very noticeable, but there was a light fog on the water too. 6:10 AM, Nikon S1.
